How to Make Homemade Donuts Like a Boss

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BU chapter.

Donuts are the greatest breakfast and if anyone tells you otherwise they’re wrong. In my opinion, the best thing about donuts is the variety in toppings. The hardest part about making your own donuts though is choosing which toppings to use, the options are endless. I decided to top my donuts with a basic glaze, a blood orange glaze with candied oranges, walnuts, powdered sugar and Nutella. There are no wrong toppings, and there’s really no reason not to make your own donuts.

7. Cut circles out of the dough using the top of a mug. Then cut the little holes with the top of a highlighter (clean it before because if you don’t that’s gross).

8. Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 365 degrees. Drop donuts in one at a time for 1 minute. When the top of the donut starts to get golden, flip it. Wait 30 seconds and then remove and place on a wire rack to cool.
