You can hardly ever go wrong when making doughnuts; pretty much everyone is obsessed with them. Ever since gourmet donuts became a huge food trend, people have been trying new flavors and textures to bring to the traditional donut. I’ve seen really beautiful donuts, crazy, over-the-top, delicious donuts, and more. But what I wanted to try was to bring some heat to a traditionally sweet donut.

Baked Chocolate Donuts
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla.
Mix the wet and dry ingredients together
Pour the batter into the greased donut pan, filling about 3/4 of the way.
#SpoonTip: I found it easier to put the batter into a plastic bag, cut the corner, and squeeze the batter into the pan.
Bake for 8 minutes, or until you can stick a toothpick in a donut and it comes out clean.
Cayenne Pepper Glaze
Ingredients
Instructions
Mix together all the ingredients in a bowl. Use as much cayenne pepper as you like, depending on how spicy you want it to be. I suggest adding it little by little, and tasting as you go.
Dip each donut in the glaze, and let sit until the glaze hardens.
Enjoy every bit of this spicy and chocolate-y heaven.
