Fall Into Fall with Endicott’s Cider Mill

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Binghamton chapter.

Fall is in full bloom in Endicott’s very own Cider Mill. Located about 15 minutes away from Binghamton University, The Cider Mill is a convenient getaway into everything fall. The Cider Mill has been in the same location since 1926 and attracts thousands of people each year to experience the goodness.

As soon as you enter The Cider Mill’s facilities, you are immediately struck with the smell of the freshly pressed apple cider and newly baked donuts. The delicious smell lingers throughout your whole visit.

I find The Cider Mill’s baked goods most appealing. They make them all in-house, which includes donuts, cookies (polka dot, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip), jams (raspberry-apple, blackberry, red-raspberry,  breads (zucchini walnut, apple caramel, triple berry blast, pumpkin, banana nut), candy apples (cinnamon, strawberry, caramel, lime, cherry, raspberry), and pies (apple, apple walnut, apple crisp, pumpkin, peach, cherry, blueberry).

Most of their donuts are plain donuts topped off with varying flavors of frosting and types of toppings to give each one a different taste. I tried most of the donut flavors, but my favorite is the cinnamon. It is fully coated in powder and tastes similar to the Entenmann’s powdered donut except The Cider Mill donut is much better because you can really tell that it’s homemade.

All of the baked goods are fresh and made from apples imported locally. The Cider Mill also offers complimentary cider samples, sells freshly brewed coffee and k-cups (including Pumpkin Spice) for $1 each.

The Cider Mill also offers locally grown vegetables (garlic, peppers, candy onions, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, corn, eggplant), pumpkin picking, apples (zestar, jerseymac, Ginger Gold, Paula Red), and cheese (extra sharp from Wisconsin) available for sale by weight.

In addition to the produce and treats sold, The Cider Mill has an interactive section where guests can see the cider press and read about the history of the mill. They can also learn how the mill makes apple cider through its long and detailed process. Guests are also allowed to watch the donut making process and cider press in action!

I highly recommend checking out The Cider Mill not only because they have bomb cider and baked goods, but also because it’s a very fun and informative local Upstate NY fall experience (not to mention— totally Instagram worthy!). There is so much The Cider Mill has to offer, you might even want to take more than one trip in order to make sure you get to try everything. Prices for all of The Cider Mill’s offerings are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Hurry and support this local business before it closes December 1st and opens again next year in August.
