Healthier Girl Scout Cookie Copycat Recipes

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BC chapter.

Girl Scout cookie season has finally arrived! If you’re like me, you’re already a few boxes deep and the guilt is starting to set in.  Lucky for you, Spoon is here to give you a list of some healthier Girl Scout cookie recipes so you can enjoy them without all the guilt!

1. Thin Mints

This dynamic chocolate-mint combo makes thin mints the most popular Girl Scout cookie around!  If you love the crunch of these iconic cookies as much as I do, you need this recipe to stop you from scarfing down on a whole box and putting on lots of weight. Lucky for us, this healthier Girl Scout cooke recipe is sugar free, gluten free, and all natural, but tastes just as good as the real cookie!

2. Samoas (or Carmel DeLites)

Mmm you’ll love this healthier samoa recipe and won’t feel any guilt from eating them. These chewy cookies with toasted coconut and “caramel” made from dates are the perfect way to curve your craving for a box of Samoas. Try making these into cookie bars instead of rings to make this recipe even easier!

3. Tagalongs

Do you love Tagalongs as much as I do? The crunchy shortbread and classic peanut butter-chocolate combo makes these cookies impeccable (and impossible to eat in moderation). So, if you’re looking to be a little healthier this year and put down the box of cookies loaded with trans fat, this recipe is a must try! These healthier Girl Scout cookies can be gluten free, vegan, and sugar free. And, they are guaranteed to satisfy your craving for this classic Girl Scout cookie.

4. Trefoils

Ah, the classic shortbread cookies—simple, yet delicious. These are already the healthiest Girl Scout cookie coming in with the lowest number of calories and grams of sugar.  But why not make them even healthier by using coconut oil like this recipe does?

5. Do-si-dos

I absolutely love these nutty, crumbly cookies! To make these cookies healthier, you can make them with oats and whole wheat flour, like this recipe does. These sandwich cookies will crumble and melt in your mouth just like the real thing!

6. Lemonades

If you’re looking for a lighter cookie to indulge in this is the recipe for you. The intense lemon flavor in these sandwich cookies is to die for. This copycat healthier Girl Scout cookie recipe is gluten free too, cutting out some of those carbs.

7. Savannah Smiles

These low-carb, sugar free, and gluten free cookies are the healthier Girl Scout cookie recipe you need. They’re super delicious and bursting with a sweet lemon flavor.  Although these bites of heaven taste like Savannah Smiles, they are chewy which makes me love them even more!

8. Thanks-A-Lot

Although I’ve never actually tried this Girl Scout cookie before, I decided to add their copycat recipe anyway. This recipe may not be healthy per se, but it’s definitely a lot better than the boxed cookies you could eat. These shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate are simply out of this world!

9. Toffee-Tastic

Toffee-Tastics! Yum! I don’t understand why these aren’t more popular? These delicious cookies are super easy to make healthier. Just whip up this vegan shortbread cookie batter recipe and add in bits of vegan toffee and ta-da!

11. Girl Scout S’mores

These healthier cookies taste just like s’mores! And yes, this graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow deliciousness can still be considered a “healthy recipe.”  Though these cookies are a little different from the Girl Scout cookies, they’ll still take you to a peaceful campfire just like the actual cookies.

Good luck to all you fellow Girl Scout cookie addicts looking to stay in shape this spring! I hope these healthier Girl Scout cookie recipes satisfy your cravings. Happy baking!

I am a biochemistry major, but that is not an option!  I am such a foodie and would love to get out to various restaurants or places around the city to write about.  I am especially interested in the health and nutrition so I would love to somehow incorporate that into articles.  I am not very involved on campus yet, so I have a lot of time to dedicate to Spoon.  I can't wait to get started!
