The Spot

This tiny spot might not look like much from the outside, but the flavors cooking up inside make it an unreal addition to the Ann Arbor food scene. Owner Jordan Balduf opened up Side Biscuit after starting to sell wings from his driveway during the pandemic. Since then, he has expanded his staff, collaborated with Ann Arbor classics, and made a name for himself in this hot food scene. Every time you step into Side Biscuit you will see a new wing and biscuit flavor. Past hits include Go BLUEberry (trust me it's delicious), cherry, pineapple BBQ, and more. Many of their ingredients come from local spots, including Argus Farm Stop and even cucumbers from Balduf's friend's garden in Dexter. The heart and passion Balduf has for wings and the Ann Arbor community is clear through talking to him. We are extremely lucky to have a spot like this so close to campus.

The Bites

Katerina Jonna

The week we visited Side Biscuit their wing of the week was a honey BBQ, which used honey from Manchester, Michigan. We also tried their three most popular wings, the gucci gang with a korean gochujang sauce, classic buffalo, and "cracked out" salt and pepper wings. Each one was an absolute hit, but the honey bbq made me keep coming back for more (Jordan, please add this to the permanent menu). In addition to their wings and biscuits, Balduf brought out their specials of the week: tamchop kimchi and miso cucumber salad. Wow. Who knew cucumbers could be this delicious? We were fighting over who would finish up the cucumber salad.

Many may go to Side Biscuit for what they are typically known for, wings and biscuits, but there is a whole section of their menu many are missing out on. Pizza logs and chicken finger sub? Sign me up. Make sure to order one of our favorite bites of the day: the buffalo chicken logs. I'll be running back here to try the apple pie logs.

If you can't already tell, our exec team is obsessed with this spot. Since trying it out as a team, I brought a group of my friends to get my hands on the blueberry wings. Side Biscuit is the perfect food to bring to all of your Michigan Football watch parties. Thank you Chef Jordan for an amazing dinner. I will be back very soon to try out the rest of their fantastic menu and rotating wing flavors.
