Don’t get me wrong, I will always be a fan of plain old avocado toast. With that being said, there’s nothing wrong with switching it up every so often. At only four ingredients and four steps, this upgraded ham and cheese avocado toast makes for a super easy breakfast or snack.
This recipe takes about three minutes of actual prepping, and then you can let your oven do the rest. No, it’s not gluten-free or vegan, but it’s delicious and full of good fats and protein. (There’s about 30g of protein total.) I’m not a huge fan of eggs, but I imagine placing a fried or scrambled egg in between the two halves would make for a pretty awesome breakfast sandwich as well.
Ham and Cheese Avocado Toast
Ingredients
Instructions
Start by toasting your English muffin in a toaster until it is just lightly golden and crisp. While waiting for your muffin to toast, turn your oven on to broil.
Place your toasted English muffin on a baking pan. Mash 1/4 of an avocado on each half of the muffin. Layer on a slice or two of deli ham to each muffin half. Evenly sprinkle on the cheese.
Broil your English muffin for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy!
Don’t feel like you need to completely stick to this recipe. Use a different type of cheese, swap the ham for turkey, use slices of toast instead of an English muffin, branch out! Whichever way you choose to make this avocado toast, you’ll end up with a warm, crispy, creamy result.
