This Taco Made With Bacon Weave Is What Dreams Are Made Of

Be honest with yourself. You wanted bacon at some point today. When the moment came where you found you had no means of eating bacon, you likely resorted to barbaric yells and tantrums which disturbed anyone living near you. It was this very kerfuffle which inspired Spoon to seek out the legendary bacon weave taco as a shell replacement. If you know what a bacon weave taco is, then you already want this recipe. If you don’t, then read on dear friend, you are in for a treat.

Bacon Weave Taco

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Servings: 1-2
  • Medium
Ingredients
  • 1 package bacon, uncooked
  • 1/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon salsa
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce

Step 1

Lay out several strips of bacon, such that perpendicular strips of bacon will lay completely across them.

Step 2

Fold every other bacon strip at the midpoint, and place a perpendicular strip of bacon across the unfolded strips.

Step 3

Flatten the folded strips, then fold the previously unfolded strips from the other direction, again laying a bacon strip across.

Step 4

Repeat steps 2-3 several times until the strips of bacon create a completed “weave” or “quilt-ish” pattern

Step 5

Bake the weave for 10-15 minutes.

Cut the bacon weave in a circle using a bowl as a guide.

Step 7

Drape the circular bacon weave over two thin rods i.e. chopsticks to create the upside-down taco shape.

Step 8

Bake the taco until hard enough to hold it’s shape. Check oven every 2-4 minutes.

Step 9

Carefully remove taco, then add meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and lettuce to your liking.
