These Shattered Glass Cupcakes Aren’t For Basic Witches

Listen up witches and wizards. Halloween is just around the corner, so if you’re short on spellbinding ingredients, or you don’t feel like pulling out that corpulent cauldron, this is the recipe for you.

Whipping up a batch of these shattered glass cupcakes is sure to creep and delight your All Hallows’ Eve guests. Plus, using store-bought cupcakes will save loads of time, and not a spooky soul will ever know. Don’t cast the same old spell this year. Try these instead. Your guests will be in for a smashingly succulent treat.

    Prep a baking tray by spraying it with oil, then lining the tray with parchment paper, and spraying the paper as well. Set aside.

    In a small saucepan with tall sides, add the sugar, water, and 1/2 cup corn syrup. Stir to combine.

    Cook the mixture on medium to medium-high heat until it reaches 300°F, about 20-30 minutes. It should have a very light yellow color.

    Immediately pour the mixture onto the baking tray and spread around with a heat resistant spatula. Let the sugar harden for at least 20 minutes.

    In a small bowl mix 1/4 corn syrup with red food coloring. Set aside.

    Once the sugar is hardened, smash it into little pieces with something heavy. Pull up the edges of the parchment to help break apart the sugar.

    Decorate your cupcakes by adding a few sugar shards and drizzling with red corn syrup. Spooktacular job.
