How to Make Elephant Ear Cookies Using Puff Pastry Sheets

If you’re a sane, normal individual, you understand that overwhelming craving for anything and everything doughy and sugary. If you don’t get a tingly feeling just thinking about those two words together, well, you’re hopeless.

Growing up I used to down my mom’s freshly baked elephant ears by the plateful. But since my mom couldn’t follow me to college, I decided to take a crack at it myself so I could satisfy my sugary dough cravings whenever I needed to. So, here, I present you homemade elephant ears only using 3 ingredients and 6 simple steps.

Elephant Ears

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 16 minutes
  • Total Time: 21 minutes
  • Servings: 10
  • Easy
Ingredients
  • 1 roll puff pastry dough
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 pinch flour (for rolling out the dough)

Step 1

Defrost a package of puff pastry and preheat your oven to 375°F.

Step 2

Sprinkle flour on a table or cutting board and roll out the dough onto the surface.

Step 3

Lightly sprinkle some sugar over the dough.

Step 4

Begin from one end of the dough and roll it to the middle. Do the same starting on the other side until both rolls meet at the middle.

Step 5

Cut ½ inch slices of the dough and place onto a baking sheet.

Step 6

Sprinkle the remaining sugar evenly on the elephant ears and then bake for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes, flip the ears and bake for another 8 minutes or until golden brown.
