Pass up traditional store-bought candy this holiday season and make your own. Impress your friends (and your foodie grandparents) with this easy-to-make candied cranberry recipe. All you need is water, sugar, and a bag of cranberries. You could even argue that they’re good for you, but you weren’t worried about that anyway.

Candied Cranberries

    Rinse, drain, and dry cranberries and place in a large bowl.

    In a microwave safe bowl, pour 2 cups sugar and water and mix.

    Put in the microwave on high for 90 seconds. Stir and microwave again for 45 seconds or until all sugar has dissolved.

    Pour the simple syrup over the cranberries and coat. Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

    Drain cranberries and spread them on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cup of sugar, making sure all cranberries are coated.
