If you never grew out of your childhood love for peanut butter and jelly, fear not: these peanut butter and jelly donuts let you indulge in this classic flavor combo in the best way. Though they require 2 (short) rises, these donuts are deceptively easy to make and result in delicious, fluffy donuts.
Instead of a sandwich, you can basically eat one of these bad boys for lunch. We won’t tell.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Donuts
Ingredients
Instructions
Dissolve yeast in water and set aside for 5 minutes.
Combine warm milk and butter (at room temperature) until butter is completely dissolved. Add egg and egg yolk (at room temperature), sugar, salt, and flour, and mix until soft dough ball forms.
#SpoonTip: Add in small amounts of extra flour as needed to form dough.
Add dough to a lightly-greased separate bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside to rise for 1 hour.
Punch down dough and knead until dough comes together. Roll out and cut out 24 circle shapes of equal size with a cookie-cutter or a drinking glass.
#SpoonTip: Use canola oil to keep surfaces (or hands) from sticking to the dough.
Place 1/2 teaspoon peanut butter and 1/2 teaspoon of jelly in 12 shapes, and cover with remaining 12 shapes.
Place donuts on greased baking sheet and cover. Let rise for 45 minutes.
Heat oil to 360°F. Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side, then roll in sugar.
