How to Make Morning Buzz Biscotti From a Traditional Italian Recipe
Ever since I was a young girl my very Italian grandmother (Nonna, as we call her) and my father have been making their very own, very traditional biscotti. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the classic style cookie, but I have found that most people aren't a fan of the extremely overpowering licorice flavor from the traditional ingredient - anise extract. I got my hands on an old recipe that my family has been using for years, and I decided to replace that aggressive licorice flavor and make a new recipe all my own - Morning Buzz Biscotti (sorry, Nonna).
Biscotti is usually enjoyed dipped in hot coffee, but I decided to replace the anise extract with coffee extract (partly because I couldn't find anise extract at Whole Foods), and add dark chocolate chips, so this treat will surely give you an early morning wake up call even without the espresso.
