These 30-Minute Avocado Fries Are Surprisingly Crispy

Fry up some delicious creamy avocado, add some spices and a pinch of salt for a crispy snack. The combination of the savory fruit mixed with coated flour and panko makes for a great golden brown crust. This avocado fries recipe will have you wanting more after one bite. It goes great with sauce and even better in a grilled cheese or BLT sandwich. It's also a great healthy alternative snack or additive. 

Although the difficulty is a little harder when dealing with cooking oil, it's still a pretty simple process, just be more cautious. So get to the store and fire up your oven, you've got some baking to do.

Ingredients
  • Canola oil
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 2 avocados

Step 1

Cut up the avocados.

Step 2

Heat 1 1/2 inches of oil in a saucepan until it reaches 375°F on a deep-fry thermometer.

Step 3

Put your flour and panko on separate plates and pour your scrambled eggs into a bowl.

Step 4

Cover each avocado slice with flour, then egg, and lastly coat it in panko.

Step 5

Carefully fry the avocado on each side until golden brown.

Step 6

Pat the excess oil with a paper towel, let cool, and serve.
