How to Make Chocolate Chip Matcha Mug Cake

You may have been hearing about the superfood matcha which is making appearances in recipes ranging from smoothies to cakes to waffles. It’s benefits give you antioxidants, a higher metabolism, and make you feel more focused (so everything you need in college).

I jumped on board and started putting matcha in my breakfast smoothie instead of my usual cup of coffee and felt just as refreshed. I have been using this super ingredient in other recipes so keep reading to see how I made a matcha cake the college way- in a mug.

Chocolate Chip Matcha Mug Cake

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 3 tablespoon almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2-3 tablespoon agave
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream

Step 1

Add the dry ingredients of flour, baking soda, and matcha powder into the mug.

Step 2

Add the wet ingredients and mix together.

Add in chocolate chips and mix to evenly distribute.

Microwave for 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Top with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
