The holidays are a time for warmth, cheer, and pestering from extended relatives about future plans. Because of the generally terrible state of things, homeownership is not a goal I personally expect to achieve in the near future. A charcuterie chalet, however, makes for a delicious diversion from the interrogations.
Gingerbread houses are everywhere this time of year. In December, the sweet structures (homemade or not) star in every window, greeting card, and bedtime story. This year, savory gingerbread houses, or charcuterie chalets are the talk of TikTok.
There is surprisingly little work involved in crafting a charming charcuterie chalet. They’ll be the perfect centerpiece for the cheese plate display at your next party. Read on to make your own!

Ingredients
Instructions
Coat the entire surface of the gingerbread house in cream cheese. If the structure comes on a cardboard stand, spread cream cheese over that, too.
Starting at the bottom of the roof, layer the salami row by row on both sides. Use pretzels, cheese, and crackers to create doors, windows, and other accents. Place pretzel sticks along corners for a finished trim.
Line the walls with rosemary and other herbs to look like trees and shrubbery. You can also decorate with assorted nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. Gently sprinkle grated parmesan over the entire base and top of the house to create the appearance of a fluffy layer of fresh snow.
