Margaritas are a summer essential, but store-bought margarita mixes are often loaded with sugar and corn syrup. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a homemade margarita mix, so you'll be ready to wow your friends with the best Marg Monday around. Below, you'll find a recipe for my go-to homemade margarita mix, as well as my favorite way to make margaritas.

#SpoonTip: For the best tasting margs, use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of the pre-juiced stuff.

Homemade Margarita Mix

  • Easy

    Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups lime juice about 16-20 limes

  • Step 1

Mix your sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Don't walk away from the stove yet, you just need the sugar to dissolve. This creates a mild simple syrup and is the base of your homemade margarita mix. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.

While your simple syrup cools you should juice your limes.

#SpoonTip: Use a citrus squeezer to make this go faster.
