This Homemade Hot Chocolate Will Get You Through the Winter

Being from Chicago, hot chocolate has and always will be a staple in my family's cupboard. While I will always be a fan of the classic hot chocolate mix, this spiced up homemade version elevates traditional hot chocolate, taking it to an intriguing new level.

Because of the addition of winter spices, each sip adds a dynamic experience, making it perfect to have on hand throughout the winter. Preparing a large mason jar full at the beginning of December will ensure that you stay warm until March.

If you are lactose free or are not a huge fan of dairy, substitute milk with non-dairy alternatives.  Beyond being a great treat to have in the cabinet, throw a bow on the jar and it turns into a inexpensive gift to give to family and friends with the holidays quickly approaching.
