On April 23rd 2024, Foxtrot and Dom's Kitchen & Market abruptly closed their doors. Which affected 33 Foxtrot's across Chicago, Dallas, and DC as well as two Chicago-based Dom's locations.

As a student at DePaul University, Foxtrot has always been one of my go-to study spots. Whether I wanted a quick snack or a quaint place to sit down off campus. Foxtrot was always there for me.

Hands down, my favorite thing on Foxtrot's menu was their Coffee Date Smoothie. This smoothie, also dubbed as a "date shake," included a blend of La Colombe Cold Brew, Medjool Dates, Coconut Yogurt, Coconut Milk, White Miso, Vanilla, Cinnamon, and Oat Milk. It packed a delicious boost of energy and quickly became one of my obsessions.

When I first learned the news of Foxtrot's closure, I was determined to find a way to replicate their Coffee Date Smoothie from home. After lots of research + trial and error, I was able to come up with a copycat recipe that (in my opinion,) tastes just as good, if not better than the original.

Thankfully, this coffee date shake recipe is fairly straightforward, budget-friendly, and comes together with just a few simple ingredients. Although the essence of Foxtrot cannot be replicated, this copycat recipe does pretty good job of imitating it and this version won't set you back $10 (unlike Foxtrot's.)

    Soak Dates
Pour hot or boiling water overtop of the dates. Let them soak for 10-15 minutes. This step is imperative because softens the dates, helping them blend better into the smoothie.
