How to Make a Negroni

Equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and campari, the negroni is simple to make but robust in taste. Its intense bitterness is slightly offset by the sweetness of  vermouth but, be warned, this isn’t your average vodka cranberry. The drink’s name is derived from Count Camillo Negroni, who asked a friend to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin instead of club soda. A century later, it has become a favorite for many, including booze fiend Anthony Bourdain. To tone down the alcoholic content, add tonic water and freshly squeezed orange juice. Lightweights beware. The negroni is incredibly potent. One to two drinks will sufficiently fog your sense… any more and you might forget where you left your pants.

Ingredients:
1 shot gin
1 shot sweet vermouth
1 shot campari
3 shots tonic water (optional)
juice of half an orange (optional)
