Ingredients
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sprinkles
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • Canned frosting

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Stir on a medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat.

Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.

Knead the sprinkles into the dough. Since the mixture is hot, the sprinkles will melt and create a marble pattern.

Heat oil in a pot until it reaches 375°F. If you don't have a thermometer, wait until the oil bubbles around a wooden spoon.

Put the mixture into a piping bag, and pipe into small strips.

Place a few strips at a time into the pot, and fry until golden. Put them on paper towels to drain.

Roll the churros in the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar.

Put the canned frosting into a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 15 seconds, or until the frosting is smooth and creamy. Dip birthday cake churro fries in the frosting and enjoy.
