Unfortunately, for most of us broke and confused college students, holidays can be more challenging than cheerful. Not only are you expected to hold conversations with adults you pretend to know about your future (which by the way, you don't know either) but you have to buy everyone gifts. 

Have no fear, here's a way to impress the family and have a heartfelt homemade gift for anyone. All it takes is this simple salted caramel sauce recipe and maybe a cute mason jar to hold your treat.

Salted Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream warmed
  • 1 teaspoon flakey sea salt
  • Step 1

    Collect ingredients.

    Place medium sauceplan of sugar.

    Stir until sugar is melted and has turned an amber colour.

    Remove from heat and stir in butter.

    Add in cream and sea salt once the butter has been mixed in, then return to heat for one minute. Stir until mixture is smooth.
