Most years, I turn to flavors like butter pecan, matcha, and coffee ice cream with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top for all the fall vibes. While I can easily find those year-round, I headed to Whole Foods in search of some new or seasonal fall ice cream flavors for this year, like some sort of pumpkin spice or apple flavor.

While I wandered through the aisle, I found some classic fall flavors as well as options for those who aren’t big fans of the yearly pumpkin craze. Continue reading for the six special flavors bound to make you run to your nearest Whole Foods immediately.

1. Van Leeuwen’s Limited Edition Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll

Alaina Cintron

The moment I opened up the pint, I spotted the cinnamon caramel creating a swirl around the pumpkin oat milk base, which resembled a real cinnamon roll. On the second spoonful, I was surprised to find some flavorful vegan cinnamon roll pieces. This ice cream flavor is just as it says, a pumpkin cinnamon roll. After trying it, I do think the taste is more similar to that of a caramel pecan cinnamon roll, as the pumpkin flavor doesn’t come across too strongly. This could be because of the oat milk, which makes the flavor more light and creamy instead. Overall, this flavor feels like a cinnamon roll melting in your mouth.

2. NadaMoo! Seasonal's Pumpkin Pie

Alaina Cintron

This pumpkin pie flavor is not playing around — it truly tastes like a spoonful of pumpkin pie. Right as I opened up the pint, the bright orange color reminded me of pumpkin pie batter about to go in the oven. Made with coconut milk and agave, this flavor is also a dairy-free option. Upon the first try, it has a kick to it as you can strongly feel the spices and pumpkin. To top off the taste, you might get a pie crust crumble on your spoon every now and then. Even if you’re not a fan of coconut milk, there’s barely a trace of it in the taste due to the strength of the pumpkin spices.

3. Blue Marble Salt-Kissed Caramel

Alaina Cintron

In a dreamy caramel shade, this flavor is just as good and creamy as it looks. It’s made with organic caramel and salt. Just as the name indicates, it is salt kissed with a soft and gentle salt taste complementing the buttery caramel base. When I first tried it, I couldn’t pinpoint what it reminded me of. Later on, it came to me that it was nostalgic to the Werther’s Original Butter hard candies I used to eat as a kid. This flavor left me wanting more.

4. Talenti Gelato Layers Pumpkin Pie

Alaina Cintron

This is a fun one! It has layers of pumpkin gelato, pie pieces, and brown sugar sauce. When I opened up the pint, the pumpkin gelato base was a nice orange color with noticeable specks of spice. This one also tastes a lot like pumpkin pie, with a spicy taste in the pumpkin base. Once I made it to the pie pieces and brown sugar sauce layers, it became this amazing combination of sweet and salty, often experienced from a slice of pie. The layers look gorgeous as they’re in the classic clear container. This flavor is like a bite of Thanksgiving dessert!

5. Van Leeuwen Limited Edition Pumpkin Cheesecake

Alaina Cintron

At first glance, the pint looked a little odd as I expected it to be more orange in color. But once I had a taste, that didn't even matter. Known as a seasonal favorite, this flavor has a pumpkin cheesecake base, lightly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. Then, honey graham cracker crust pieces are folded in. It is extremely creamy with a very soft pumpkin taste, that isn’t overpowering at all. The graham cracker crust pieces provide a nice touch to make it feel like you’re eating a slice of cheesecake.

6. Blue Marble Cinnamon Double Dark Chocolate

Alaina Cintron

A fall spin on double chocolate! This flavor is inspired by the favorite drinking chocolate of Jalisco, Mexico. It’s a deep and rich chocolate base with cinnamon, almond extract, and tiny dark chocolate chunks in every bite. When you take your first bite, the almond flavor is overpowering, in a good way. It feels like when you bite into an almond. Then, the cinnamon taste is present, but very faint. The ice cream has a rough texture to it, perhaps from the cinnamon and almond. This texture only adds to the overall taste of the flavor.

All six fall ice cream flavors are available for purchase at Whole Foods for the fall time. Get them while they last!
