5 Simple Fruit and Ice Hacks You Need This Summer

Summer is in full swing and nothing’s better than soaking up the sun with your favorite cold beverage. But why not add a little spunk to your lousy ice water? These nifty ice recipes can help give your drink a splash more pep. So next time you’re heading out into the summer heat toss a few of these ice cubes into your water or favorite adult beverage. What an ice way to chill.

Watermelon

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 3 hours
  • Total Time: 3 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients
  • 1 cup watermelon
  • water

Step 1

Cut watermelon up into small pieces, place in ice cube tray, then freeze.

Striped

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 3 hours
  • Total Time: 3 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients
  • 3 different types of juice

Step 1

Pour your first type of juice 1/3 of the way up in the tray. Freeze.

Step 2

Pour your next type of juice 2/3 of the way up and freeze.

Step 3

Add your last layer of juice on top and then freeze.

Pineapple

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 3 hours
  • Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup grenadine

Step 1

Purée frozen pineapple until smooth and then spoon evenly into the tray.

Step 2

Pour grenadine over top and then freeze.

Lemon & Mint

  • Prep Time: 5
  • Cook Time: 3 hours

Ingredients
  • 2-4 lemons
  • mint

Step 1

Fill each ice cube space with lemon juice.

Step 2

Tear up mint leaves into small pieces and add to each space, then freeze.

Raspberry & Blueberry

  • Prep Time: 10
  • Cook Time: 3 hours
  • Total Time: 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Servings: 12 ice cubes

Ingredients
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup raspberries

Step 1

Purée blueberries until mostly smooth and fill each ice cube tray half way, then freeze.

Step 2

Purée raspberries and fill each space up the rest of the way, then freeze.
