Brownies: arguably the most delicious chocolatey dessert ever made. I don't think I've ever met anyone that doesn't love brownies. Their chewy, chocolatey, mouthwatering deliciousness is nearly impossible to resist. But, brownies are often high in refined sugars and flours, which may not be your preference all the time.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could eat brownies that are actually delicious and healthy? I would search far and wide to develop a recipe just like that. And I did. Of course, the only logical thing to do is to share such a wonderful discovery with the world.

When developing these recipes, I did what any person would do: I took inspiration from the internet. I found some recipes for healthy brownies which included foods like black beans, avocado, and even sweet potato. All of these brownies sounded interesting, but how could I know which ingredient made the brownie taste better? And which ingredient made the brownie taste so good that you couldn't even tell it didn't contain refined flours and sugars? To know, I had to make a recipe for all three and test it out. Thus began the recipes for easy flourless brownies three ways.

Each of these brownie recipes are almost exactly the same. The only difference is in one ingredient. One recipe contains sweet potato, another avocado, and the last one, black beans. This way I could test out which ingredient created the best overall flourless brownie.

The recipe is easy, simple, and contains loads of yummy health foods like oats, almond butter, and cocoa powder. In a way, it's totally different than the ingredients in a regular brownie. But, surprisingly, it tasted almost identical.

I tried all three ingredient variations so you can know which ingredient (sweet potato, avocado, or black beans) you should add to your flourless brownies. Find the recipe and review below.

Which Flourless Brownie Is The Best?

Sweet Potato Flourless Brownie

I tried the sweet potato brownie first. It was truly delicious. There was a strong dark chocolate flavor with sweet undertones. But, even though there were still a few noticeable bits of sweet potato still in the finished brownie, it didn't taste at all like sweet potato.

Avocado Flourless Brownie

The next one I tasted was the avocado brownie. It was much more moist than the sweet potato brownie, but not nearly as sweet. In fact, although the texture was better, it tasted quite a bit like avocado. Which, is great...if you love avocados. But, not exactly what you expect when biting into a brownie.

Black Bean Flourless Brownie

Finally, I took a bite out of the black bean brownie. This one made the decision a bit more difficult. It was chocolatey. It was also delicious. And it did not taste at all like beans, which is excellent because I was really terrified to find out what it's like to eat actual "chocolate beans." But, it wasn't very sweet.

Final Rating

Sweet Potato Flourless Brownies : 1st Place Winner!

Black Bean Flourless Brownies: 2nd Place

Avocado Flourless Brownies: 3rd Place

Even though all of these flourless brownie variations tasted fantastic, the best one was certainly the sweet potato one. Maybe I'm just a sucker for sweet foods. But, the sweetness of the sweet potatoes really complemented the chocolatey flavor of the brownie, making it the absolute winner at the end. And although I whole-heartedly believe in the greatness of avocados, they did not taste the greatest in brownies.

But, that's just my opinion. Try them all and see for yourself which flourless brownie you love best.
