Homemade Turkey Chili in Under 20 Minutes

If you’re craving Mom’s homemade turkey chili but don’t have the time (or the skill) to replicate her magical concoction, try this bad boy. It may not remind you of curling up on the couch watching Gilmore Girls reruns on a snow day, but it’s still pretty dang good.

20 Minute Turkey Chili

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 14-oz. can corn kernels
  • 1 14-oz. can black beans
  • 1 14-oz.can kidney beans
  • 1 14-oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon hot chili powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Step 1

On a large cutting board, chop onion into small pieces.

Step 2

Mince garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a large pot, over a medium heat, add olive oil.

Step 4

Add onion and garlic to the pot. Cook for 3 minutes.

Step 5

Add ground turkey and break it up with a spoon. Brown the turkey for 5 minutes.

Step 6

Season with salt and pepper.

Step 7

Add diced tomatoes and tomato paste and stir.

Step 8

Then add corn kernels, black beans, and kidney beans, stirring as you go.

Step 9

Add chili powder, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Stir until all ingredients are mixed evenly.

Step 10

Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.

Step 11

Add shredded cheese and mix everything well.

Step 12

Remove from heat and serve. Yummmmmmmmm.
