First dates can be nerve-wracking at best, and downright terrifying at their worst. Choosing the right location for your date night in Dallas is essential. Love is in the air thanks to Valentines Day this week, so take advantage of these stellar spots.

1. Sushi Axiom

Sushi Axiom is one of my favorite spots. Ok, I might be biased—this is where I had my first date with my boyfriend—but hear me out. The rolls are all to die for, and the grapefruit martini is the perfect way to treat yourself. Sushi Axiom has a casual but chic vibe, and a solid taste in music.

2. Avanti

If romance is your thing, Avanti is your place. This quaint and candle-lit Italian spot on McKinney is a little oasis in busy Uptown. Try the creamy risotto, and check out the wine list.

3. Saint Ann

Saint Ann is a top destination for brunch, and for good reason. Their strawberry shortcake French toast exceeds all expectations, and the flatbreads never disappoint. The dinner deserves just as much if not more recognition. With intriguing craft cocktails, an exquisite charcuterie board, and some of the best scallops I've had in Dallas to date, Saint Ann's upscale, low-lit vibe is the perfect spot to take your sweetheart.

4. Bullion

Chef Bruno Davaillon has created a refined French spot with a lounge-like feel. Encased in gold, the downtown building is a spectacle itself, and the food served is no exception, offering selections ranging from duck confit to escargot. Don't bother showing up if you're on a budget—most entrees linger above $30.

5. Stirr

If Deep Ellum is your vibe, then Stirr is your place. Not to mention the fact that it's prime for Instagram pics. Known for it's craft cocktails such as the Yes Way Frozé and the Rosemary Paloma, happy hour here is sure to be a hit. The food is sure to please too, with decadent four-cheese tortellini and a refined wood grilled Texas quail.

Ok, so Valentines may not be for everyone. But date night in Dallas is a must at these spots. So bring your babe—or bring your girls—and grab a cocktail.
