Why You Need to Check Out St Andrews Waffle Company ASAP

For being such a small town there are lot of dining out choices in St Andrews; we've got Italian, Mexican and a bunch of great coffee shops in between, but do you know what we're missing? Waffles. Now I didn't know we needed St Andrews Waffle Company until it opened its doors to us in early October but trust me, we definitely do. 

Located on 131 South Street this lovely little cafe is fast becoming a favourite of students and locals alike. Offering not just delicious, fresh waffles (we'll get to those later) but a wide range of expertly selected teas and high quality coffee.

About St Andrews Waffle Company

The environment that has been created is friendly and inclusive. Chris, the owner, has made it clear that he wants everyone in St Andrews to come in and try what his new waffle shop and cafe has to offer.

After speaking to Chris it is clear to see that he is passionate about his new business, he isn't new to the scene though. Chris has been working in the food and drink industry for a while now but this is his first cafe. He has taken all of his experience and looked in to every aspect of the St Andrews Waffle Company business and it has seriously paid off. He's even hoping to introduce another cafe to Belgium, the home of waffles, at some point in the future.

Our Visit

When we went to check the place out we ordered two flat whites (which we actually started drinking before we took a photo... way too tempting to wait). The coffees were made by one of the three Scottish Barista School trained staff members; our server was more than happy to talk to us about the coffee she was using and her flat white was perfect (mad props). 

There is also a huge number of loose-leaf teas to choose from if you're not a coffee fan. They've got a variety of Herbal & Fruit, Rooibos, Black and Green teas. You can pair a waffle and tea tasting for two if you really want the full experience.

Then we decided on the Waffle Tasting Plate which included the Baked Alaska, Banoffee Pie and the Chocolate Explosion from the Signature Menu and two other creations made up by our wise waitress.

The beauty of this cafe is that you can go in, say what toppings you like and the knowledgeable and welcoming staff will make up a creation for you. All the waffles were seriously good and great value for money, we were struggling to finish but we certainly couldn't leave anything behind.

All I have to say about St Andrews Waffle Company is that it is a welcoming, easy-going place with a passionate owner and friendly, well-informed staff. If you're ever craving something sweet paired a high-quality tea of coffee, you need to get down to 131 South Street. I promise you won't regret it.
