You open the door and see a create-your-own smoothie bar, salad bar, sandwich bar, bowl bar, omelette station, bakery section, and prepared food counter. You try to pinch yourself but you are not dreaming. Surprisingly, this is reality. You come to your senses and realize you are inside the new and exciting Glendale, Long Island eatery, Lo-Cal Kitchen.

This restaurant is a foodie's dream-come-true. From baked goods to açaí bowls, it really doesn't get much better than this. The best part (drumroll please)? Everything is low-calorie. That even includes their mac and cheese option, weighing in at 41 calories.

Lo-cal meets every eater's needs with such a wide variety of customizable options. Whether you are a picky person or an adventurous eater, you will find options to suit your needs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served Monday through Sunday, so you can spend every meal at Lo-Cal Kitchen if you wish. Whether you go in the morning or at night, your food will be served impecably by the friendliest of staff.

I have visited the restaurant for several meals since its opening, and, despite their high prices and early closing hours, I have nothing but praise for this new spot. I have created my own bowl where you are provided with the option of brown rice, cauliflower rice, or quinoa, your pick of a protein, vegetables, and a sauce. Unlike many tradition bowls, Lo-Cal mixes the layers in a wok to create a personalized stir-fry.

I have also created my own perfect grilled chicken sandwich featuring avocado, sautéed mushrooms, and honey mustard. The smoothie bowls are also fabulous as you have the opportunity to choose your preferred toppings such as granola, peanut butter, and fresh fruit. Every station has a menu of recommended combinations as well as step-by-step instructions as to how to create your own.

It is so amazing to eat at a place where everything is created with nutrition in mind and is also delicious, which is a type of eatery we did not have before. "Endless choices" is the key idea when describing this eatery. I cannot wait to continue discovering and creating new meals at Lo-Cal Kitchen and I highly recommend you check it out as well.
