With the recent feud between Popeyes and Chick-fil-A, people from all over have expressed their opinions on which fast food chain has the best chicken sandwich. Sadly, Popeyes has run out of their chicken sandwiches for now, but supporters of Chick-fil-A still believe that no other chicken sandwich reigns supreme. Throughout this beef, buzz about the quality of PDQ's chicken sandwich has been under the radar. With no Popeyes in sight, PDQ is the fast food joint with the qualifications to stand against the notorious Chick-fil-A. After seeing all the hype with the Chick-fil-A sandwich, I decided to judge for myself who has the best chicken sandwich in terms of appearance, the quality of the chicken, and the toppings.

The Chick-fil-A sandwich pictured above consists of pickles, a fried chicken breast, and two buns. When looking at it first glance, this chicken sandwich appears to be nothing but straight forward. While keeping it simple, this sandwich packs flavor that dances all over your tastebuds. It's chicken breast, fried in peanut oil, has a soft crunch that preserves it tender integrity. The simplicity of the sandwich allows for one to taste the pickles' acidity compliment the savoriness of the chicken. With these qualities, the Chick-fil-A sandwich continues to be a favorite nationwide.

The PDQ Chicken Sandwich

Pictured above is the original PDQ sandwich. Consisting of a tomato, lettuce, a fried chicken breast, and two buns, this sandwich provides customers the opportunity to receive their veggies in addition to their protein and carbs. Having a crispier texture for the chicken sandwich, this chicken sandwich provides a crunch for each bite you take. What caught my surprise while trying this sandwich was the pickles. Pickles have the power to change the dynamic of any sandwich. The pickles on this sandwich had a thicker cut and a less acidic taste as if they were homemade. However, it worked with the sandwich. The pickles combined with the crispiness of the chicken breast orchestrated a balance between freshness and flavor.

The Verdict

Cassidy Mitchell

After tasting both sandwiches, I had a full stomach and a final judgement. Both sandwiches tasted like heaven in between two buns; however, PDQ took being a chicken sandwich to another level. The pickles and inclusion of lettuce and tomato enhanced the experience of the sandwich. Providing an opportunity to taste the crunchiness of the chicken, its original pickles, the crisp lettuce, and the juicy tomato slice, PDQ proves itself to be a champion of the chicken sandwich.
