Minnesota definitely showed off how "Minnesota Nice" they are on Sept. 30, as Buddy Valastro and his family cut the ribbon, therefore opening the doors to the infamous Carlo's Bakery. With hundreds and hundreds of cannolis, lobster tails, cupcakes, and more, the Cake Boss was ready to open his first Midwestern location of Carlo's Bakery.

The Waiting Game

An estimated 7,000 people showed up for the grand opening, some arriving as early as two in the morning to secure their spot. It took hours of waiting in the chilly 40 degree weather and hours upon hours of standing in line to merely see the bakery. It took some people 5 hours, some 10 hours, and others nearly 12 hours to meet Buddy and get their delicious treats.

Boy, was it worth the wait. When customers finally made it to the front of the bakery, they were overwhelmed with an incredible amount of goods and a magnificently sweet aroma that cannot be forgotten. With the deliciousness in hand, it was nearly impossible to decide on a treat to take home.

However, the treat itself was getting to meet the Cake Boss. Buddy was less than shy as he met with his thousands upon thousands of fans, taking pictures, signing his autograph, and even helping celebrate birthdays and pregnancy announcements. He was nothing short of sweet, kind, and truly humble.

The Overall Experience

Though waking up at 5 a.m. may not be ideal for many people, it was completely worth it for this once in a lifetime experience. Personally, I'll never forget the delicious smell of the bakery and the delectable taste of the desserts. For thousands of Minnesotans who watch TLC's Cake Boss, it was a dream come true to not only see a bakery open in the heart of Minneapolis, but to meet the Cake Boss himself. Minnesotans, welcome to the famiglia.
