Bad Saint is a filipino restaurant located in Washington DC, which specializes in unique, authentic dishes. Rated #2 in the country by Bon Appétit magazine, this restaurant was truly a foodie experience.

The Wait

Bad Saint, which is a fairly new restaurant compared to some other favorites in the area, is pretty well known for its extraordinary wait. I owe my successful experience to my father who arrived at Bad Saint at 3:00 when it did not even open until 5:30. Claiming the 3rd spot in line, we were the second group of people to be seated in the close knit restaurant!

Small Plates: Dumplings

These tiny, perfect dumplings were the first thing my family ordered at Bad Saint. Although we each only got to taste one each, they were incredibly satisfying and got us eager to try the rest of the food. The dumplings were stuffed with minced vegetables and pork and doused in a rich, umami sauce.

Favorite Dishes: Clams

I'm not the biggest fan of spicy food, but these clams with spicy broth and sausage were the biggest hit ever. Served with white rice to tame the heat, these clams were extremely succulent and delicious. They also came with Chinese doughnuts which we used for the spicy broth.

Favorite Dishes: Cauliflower Curry

And onto the next dish... Cauliflower curry with squash, coconut milk, peanuts, and chiles. Please, hold the applause. Even for a meat lover like myself, this vegetarian masterpiece was truly irresistible. The sauce was extremely tasty eaten with the rice, and all of the flavors could not have been any more balanced.

Most Interesting Dish: Prawns

These prawns with black bean paste were by far the most interesting things I tasted all night. Although the prawns weren't extremely spicy, they had an intriguing heat to them and the black bean paste was unbelievable. This may sound like a strange pair, but it's definitely a must try.

Overall Experience

I would like to formally thank the awesome woman on the right for being not only the best waitress of all time, but for adding to the unbelievable experience that I received at Bad Saint. The authentic food, flawless service, and unique atmosphere leads me to understand why Bon Appétit loved this place so much. Add this to your bucket list foodies!
