Back in July, Starbucks announced its upcoming fall menu with the classic PSL and new items like the Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte and the Italian Sausage Egg Bites. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that neither the Apple Crisp drinks nor the Baked Apple Croissant were anywhere to be found, leaving many despair and endure crashouts.

There’s no concrete answer as Starbucks hasn’t made any statements about the apple crisp flavor, but one can guess low sales, higher focus on best-sellers such as pumpkin-flavored treats, and the opportunity to experiment with drinks like the new coconut-based drinks: the Coco Cold Brew and Coco Matcha that are currently being tested in New York City stores.

In this blog post from August 18, the brand referenced the “Apple Crisp family” returning this year. Unless there was a typo or a huge miscommunication within the brand, we can still have hope for the return of the dessert-inspired drinks later this season. Starbucks must be taking ideas from Taylor Swift, Jenny Han, and Sabrina Carpenter’s playbooks with easter eggs.
When was the apple crisp flavor first introduced?
This wildly popular flavor was first introduced in 2021 as the Apple Crisp Macchiato. The flavor is described as a blend of apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar to resemble the taste of freshly baked apples. With such a positive response from coffee addicts like TikTok user @mamiflo910, who described it as “heavenly” in her taste test video. Starbucks expanded this flavor to new drinks such as the Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and the Iced Apple Crisp Nondairy Cream Chai.
