Would You Try Van Leeuwen’s Dill Pickle Ice Cream?

The most popular ice cream flavors in the U.S., of course, include the tried and true vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate options. If you’re feeling wild, the likes of Ben & Jerry’s offer pints full of candy and cookie bites with Chunky Monkey, Cherry Garcia and delectable Brownie Batter Core. However, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is bringing new flavors to store fridges in celebration of the forthcoming winter holiday season. Alongside classic peppermint and mocha flavors, the company is also releasing dill pickle- and Kraft Mac & Cheese-flavored ice creams. This isn’t exactly surprising as the brand is the king of bizarre and savory treat concoctions. For the release of Netflix’s Glass Onion film, they released a bourbon onion jam-flavored ice cream. Most recently, Van Leeuwen broke the internet with its Hidden Valley Ranch-flavored ice cream, but Spoon University decided this was a 7/10 pint. If you thought that was the end of their savory ice cream train, don’t worry, there are more unique combinations to try on the 2023 Van Leeuwen’s holiday flavors roster.

What holiday flavors is Van Leeuwen selling this year?

Of course, we can’t ignore the stars of the show. The limited-edition Kraft Mc & Cheese, which first appeared in 2021, and dill pickle flavors will surely fly off shelves purely out of curiosity if nothing else.

According to beloved social media foodie @markie_devo, Van Leeuwen describes it pickle ice cream as follows:

“This tangy yet sweet pickle ice cream is more pickle-ized with a dill pickle swirl. Don’t knock it until you try it, because you know you will.”

Additionally, the brand described the returning bright-orange Kraft ice cream. “If this reminds you of the ice cream you grew up with, you might be out of your mind. If this reminds you of the comforting bowl of Kraft Mac & Cheese you grew up with, you’re getting warmer. Because did we make this ice cream with that buttery, sweet iconic cheese? You bet.”

If you’re a traditional sweet ice cream lover, the holiday selection will cater to you and your family all season long. The more traditional limited-edition flavors include Peppermint Stick, Caramel Sticky Bun, Peanut Butter Fudge Pretzel, Holiday Cookies & Cream, and Kettle Corn. Frankly, anything with mint is a treat, and I will no longer tolerate mint chocolate chip slander.

Where can I buy these flavors?

These Van Leeuwen holiday flavors are available at Walmart beginning October 23 and lasting through December 26, or until the shelves are cleared. Each pint will cost you $4.98, but that’s a small price to pay for a delicious sweet treat or a savory taste test for a family activity.
