This TikTok Trend Will Have You Eating An Entire Cucumber

If you aren’t on CucumberTok, then you’re seriously missing out. No, Kendall Jenner cutting a cucumber isn’t resurfacing. Being the fruit of the summer, content creators have found ways to create sweet, spicy, and savory spins on this mouth-watering fruit. Content creator, @logagm, has become the face of this flavorful trend crowning himself as king of the cucumber community. In his videos, he can be seen making cucumber salads, cucumber kimchi, a cucumber flight, and even cucumber appetizers inspired by the iconic Din Tai Fung restaurant. Many social media users have been recreating these recipes, using them as inspiration for their own creations, and it’s deemed a new rule that eating an entire cucumber by yourself is acceptable. So whether you’re looking for a healthy snack to hold you over until dinner time, or you just really want to eat an entire cucumber to pass the time, here are some recipes inspired by this tasty trend that will leave you feeling as cool as a cucumber this summer.

How to make the OG cucumber of the day

TikTok went crazy after @logagm, known as Logan, declared it to be “cucumber summer” and started posting innovative recipes to make at home with a whole cucumber. Once people started to realize how easy and tasty these recipes were, everyone wanted to join the cucumber community. The OG cucumber of the day might be one of the best, and I can guarantee you have some of these ingredients lying around your house right now.

All you need is a large container, it’s critical for the recipe. Start off by slicing an entire cucumber into the container and adding a drizzle of soy sauce, fish sauce, and sesame oil. Don’t forget a dash of rice wine vinegar, grate one clove of garlic, and add in less than a teaspoon of sugar for some sweetness. Next, you’ll want to add some chili oil for a hint of spice, diced-up green onion, and a bit of MSG (obviously). Shake up your container to make sure your cucumber slices are coated evenly, and take your first bite.

Cucumber recipes for the maximalists

Sometimes you want more out of your cucumber. Adding peanut butter, feta cheese, or Greek yogurt, the possibilities are endless here thanks to Logan and other creators.

First up, is the Din Tai Fung-inspired cucumber. Din Tai Fung, an iconic Chinese restaurant with locations in California, New York, and more, has been known for its sweet and spicy spin on cucumbers. Logan recreated this recipe with select ingredients that you can find around your house to create a delectable snack — soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil, and garlic.

You can eyeball these measurements to your heart’s content, and top it off with a teaspoon of chili oil and a grated garlic clove. For even more spice feel free to add extra ingredients like Tajin or Chamoy. Shake and enjoy!

Creamy Cucumber Salad

This next cucumber recipe is a bit more savory and richer in flavor. With ingredients like Greek yogurt, and mayo, you might be hesitant to try but you won’t regret it when you recreate this perfect summer salad.

This next cucumber recipe is a bit more savory and richer in flavor. With ingredients like Greek yogurt, mayo, and sour cream, you might be hesitant to try but you won’t regret it when you recreate this perfect summer snack.

Of course, you have to start off by chopping your whole cucumber into thin-cut rounds. Add these to your container with finely sliced strands of red onion, ranch seasoning, Greek yogurt, mayo, sour cream, and a drizzle of lemon juice. Then sprinkle salt and pepper. All that’s left is to shake!

What about a salmon-bagel cucumber snack? Yes, you read it correctly, bagel cucumber snack. You might be wondering, how could I possibly take the fantastic flavors of a bagel and pair it with a cucumber? Well, take some notes from the cucumber king and this is going to make you want to eat a whole cucumber every single day.

Into your sliced cucumber, add a tablespoon of cream cheese. You’re going to want to take slices of smoked salmon and slice it into bite-sized chunks before placing them in your container. Dice some red onion for an extra hint of sweetness, and top it off with some salt and pepper. Optional but you can also add half of a diced avocado and some capers for extra flavor. Don’t forget a generous handful of everything but the bagel seasoning, and shake it up. You’ll want to make sure the salmon and cream cheese are evenly mixed before taking a huge bite out of this savory snack.
