Does Starbucks Have Protein Drinks Now?

Starting September 29th, Starbucks is launching protein-packed cold foam and protein lattes nationwide. These new drinks are gonna be considered the new it thing over th school year its designed to give people both a caffeine buzz and a serious protein boost in one go, making this your daily starbucks run feel a little bit more like a protein shake. With different flavors ranging from classic sweet cold foam to the new banana option, there is something for everyone. Starbucks is turning your favorite coffee run into  a mini health hack!

How much protein are we talking about?

Starbucks wasn’t lying when they said they were adding protein as the numbers are no joke. A grande with Starbucks protein cold foam is around 19 to 26 grams of protein while a protein latte delivers 27 to 37 grams of protein. Instead of just tossing in a scoop of, baristas take the time to blend up “portein-boosted milk” in store by mixing 2% with unflavored protein powder. Soon you’ll even be able to swap that milk into your other favorite starbucks drinks, like matchas, pink drinks, and more.

What flavors can you try?

There’s a flavor for pretty much everyone. If you like a little taste of fruit in your cold foam, banana cold foam joins the lineup, along with vanilla, chocolate, brown sugar, salted caramel, matcha, and plain. Seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice will also get the protein treatment, so you Starbucks fall loves won’t be left out.

Why is Starbucks starting this now?

Protein is trending right now almost everywhere in the world. It’s the most talked-about topic. From gym enthusiasts to students looking to stay full between classes, people are finding ways to sneak more protein into their day. In fact, about “85% of Americans want to increase the amount of protein they eat next year”. Cold foam is also one of the most talked-about items at Starbucks and has been a best-seller since its 2018 debut, so this move feels like good timing and a smart decision. High-protein diets have been gaining so much popularity, and Starbucks is representing a creative way of how to indulge protein in your day to day life with a sweet treat. 

What does this mean for Starbucks?

Starbucks’ is working hard to keep up after its biggest U.S sales week ever, thanks to the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte CEO Brian Niccol has promised to bring the company “back to Starbucks” with fun, relevant menu updates, and this protein-packed drink is the best kind of innovation, targeting every single age group. This could potentially change Starbucks for an even better reputation.

Should you try?

These new protein cold foams and lattes might become your new go-to. Think of it as the gains-friendly version of your favorite drink or food order.
