Are Red Velvet Oreos back?
An Instagram account called @snackolator determined on June 13 in this post that Oreo would be rereleasing the red velvet flavor based on a few recent hints posted on Oreo’s official X account. What are the hints, you ask? Oreo’s account posted an image of the Red Velvet Oreo package with the caption “when the world needed them most, they vanished.” Some of the other hints around various platforms include a post of an all red I Spy-esque scene on Facebook and an Instagram post of a video for a recipe for red velvet cheesecake with an Oreo crust.
According to a spokesperson for Oreo, red velvet was “The most requested flavor return.” The comeback was announced on September 7 by Justin Ellen, AKA @everythingjustbaked in Instagram, who revealed the cookie flavor by cutting into a package only to show it was red velvet cake inside, then opening up a real package and taking a bite of the resurrected red velvet cookie.
Where can I get Red Velvet Oreos?
While the old packaging for the red velvet flavor included a big slice of red velvet cake on the front, the updated version will have the cookie itself front and center, proudly declaring “It’s back!” Now that you know what to look for, know that the flavor comes back to store shelves September 12, but only while supplies last.
