April 22 is most notably known as Earth Day, but did you know of its food holiday companion? Today is also National Jelly Bean Day. Every year on April 22, Jelly Belly Candy Company celebrates its namesake candy, and this year is no different. This year, jelly bean fans can apply to be the candy company’s first-ever Chief Jelly Belly Bean Officer. This is an online contest open across the country to name Jelly Belly Candy Company’s biggest fan. Read on for the details on how to enter.

Open until May 17, fans 18 and older can enter the contest at www.jellybelly.com/ChiefJBO, where they will answer a questionnaire showing off their Jelly Belly IQ.
"We are very lucky to have such a large group of Jelly Belly lovers across the country, so National Jelly Bean Day felt like the perfect time to recognize who matters most – the fans," said Jeff Brown, CEO of Jelly Belly Candy Company in a press release. "We're eager to see which lucky fan will join us as the first ever Chief Jelly Belly Bean Officer for 2024. Someone that appreciates the quality, innovation and true-to-life flavor of our jelly beans will fit right in!"
Those entering will need to provide their full name, email address, and the answers to three multiple questions and one short answer prompt to receive one entry. There’s a limit of entry per email address. The short answer question requires applicants to create a statement describing what kind of Jelly Belly Jelly Bean flavor they would be and why within the 250-character cap.
No purchase is necessary to enter the contest. Winners will be announced at the end of May. The winner will receive a $4,500 cash prize, a one-year supply of jelly beans, and some official Jelly Belly merch.
