Elm Street Diner Turned Over-The-Top Desserts Into A Social Media Sensation

Have you ever looked at a dessert menu and said to yourself, “I wish I could have one of everything?” Well, now you can have one of everything all in one. A slice of cake, chocolate fudge, cookies, and possibly a waffle or two piled up high on a glass filled with a milkshake. That’s what you’ll get when you dine at Elm Street Diner Restaurant in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Elm Street Diner has been around since 1987 but it is now known for giving you their all with their crazy creations. Of course, this diner has traditional diner food, but they’re better known for their outrageous creations. From breakfast to dinner and dessert, each meal is a unique dining experience.

For breakfast, you can get a humungous stack of four jumbo pancakes with a layer of red velvet cake, crushed Oreos, chocolate sauce, a raspberry vanilla drizzle, whipped cream and sprinkled with powdered sugar.

You could also have the brunch pancake burrito like @DEVOURPOWER had when he went. Two pancakes, scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, maple syrup, all rolled into two tortillas then deep fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar. This huge burrito is served with a syringe of chipotle honey which they squirt inside at the table.

Lunch will bring you a delicious Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich. Lettuce, melted Parmesan cheese, two chicken cutlets, smothered in their housemate Caesar dressing, all on a toasted semolina bread hero.

If you’re dining at Elm Street for dinner, you can get their new Chicken Parm Gnocchi Vodka & Fried Burrata. This dish consists of gnocchi smothered in a deliciously creamy vodka sauce, then topped with a crispy chicken cutlet covered in warm melted mozzarella, and on top there is a crispy fried burrata rangoon.

If you think their selections for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are over-the-top, their desserts are even more wild.

They’re famous for their cake shakes, also known as freak shakes. When they post TikToks of their extremely over-the-top shakes, people in the comments are drooling and talking about how disgustingly delicious it looks.

Their videos have been slowly going viral, with their most viral video hitting 24 million views in 2024. Their video shows one of their freak shakes being slid onto a table for someone to enjoy and the camera captures every detail of its chocolaty goodness.

The comments under this video are mainly people yearning for this shake, crying about how much they want this shake. Other commenters are trying to be funny, saying how this shake would give someone diabetes if they ate it by themselves.

TikTok user @Styleofcatalina went to Elm Street Diner on a solo date to celebrate her birthday. She ordered their house made Jumbo Fried Mozzarella drizzled in sweet chili honey mustard, a crunch wrap filled with mac and cheese, bacon, a beef patty, the pancake brunch tacos filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, topped with French toast bits, and lastly a giant birthday cake cake shake. The cake shake was topped with lollipops, a cupcake, a slice of cake, red velvet cookies, and an ice bar.

“I was just truly blown away by the design, the creativity of this dessert, down to all of the food I’d had and the mocktail. Great hospitality, great food,” she said.

Creator @drs_ordersbakingco also went to the diner to try all of their viral foods. For dessert, he tried the WOW Waffle Tower, which is layers of waffles stacked up high with chocolate, peanut butter, ice cream, Nutella, pancakes, candy bars, and so much more.

“It’s indulgent, and unapologetically extra in the best way possible,” he says.

@karissaeats a popular TikTok food reviewer rated their Kobe Burger a 9/10. The Kobe Burger has five onion rings for each of Kobe Bryant’s NBA championship wins. Karissa says, “It was so juicy and the pickles were thick and the bun was grilled for the perfect buttery crunch.”

So if you’re ready to trade the ordinary for the unapologetically extra, grab a fork, skip the diet, and see for yourself why Elm Street Diner is the definition of a delicious overload.
