The Top 10 Weirdest Oreo Flavors

Oreo announced its newest flavor on April 24 — Sour Patch Kids Oreos. Collaborating with the sour candy is a chaotic move. Is the cookie first sour then sweet? Well, the duo created an Oreo Golden Cookie that’s Sour Patch Kids-flavored with colorful specks in the cookie and creme, that have a sour-sugar taste. It begs the question, what other wild flavor combinations has Oreo created? Here’s a list, in no particular order, of the weirdest Oreo flavors (think of flavors you’d never think of for a sandwich cookie). All I can say is, it makes sense that most of these were limited-edition flavors.

Oreo Sour Patch

Starting with Oreo’s newest flavor, I just don’t see how this can work as a cookie. I’m still intrigued, though, who doesn’t love Sour Patch Kids candy?

This flavor is available for pre-sale on Oreo’s website then, the limited-edition cookies will hit the stores nationwide starting May 6. To celebrate the new flavor, the Oreo and Sour Patch Kids brands will also be dropping an exclusive merch line on May 2 including a matching crewneck and a pair of joggers. You can find the merch on Oreo’s website while supplies last.

Nabisco Hot & Spicy Cinnamon Oreo Limited Edition

I’m so intrigued by this combo. The spicy cinnamon comes from those cinnamon candies which are an acquired taste, but chocolate and cinnamon work so well together (a dash of cinnamon in hot cocoa is top tier). The Oreo is a red cinnamon candy-flavored filling in between two chocolate wafers. “It tastes just like Red Hots/cinnamon bears/your favorite cinnamon candy of choice, but with the flavor of Oreo creme mixed in,” according to The Impulsive Buy who rated the Oreo flavor a 10 out of 10.

Oreo Cherry Cola Oreo

Soda turned cookie — the combination of a cherry cola-flavored creme with popping candy and a chocolate wafer. This was a product of the #myoreocreation contest back in 2018 where fans let their creativity soar by creating unique Oreo flavors. As an avid cherry hater, this combo doesn’t sit well with me; however, the flavor profiling is apparently spot on to cherry cola.

Nabisco Oreo Cotton Candy Oreo Limited Edition

This cookie was apparently a fan favorite. It featured the golden wafer with pink and blue creme filling. I wouldn’t categorize cotton candy as an I-want-to-have-this-all-the-time-flavor, but the Oreos had a “cotton candy taste, don’t know that I will buy again, but I ate the whole box,” according to a Reddit user.

Nabisco Kettle Corn Oreos

This flavor was another #myoreocreation contest product. I see the potential here. Kettle Corn Oreos featured the golden wafer with a kettle corn-flavored creme and “puffed millet bits.” Not sure what that means but I’m guessing popcorn pieces were mixed into the creme which sounds a bit off-putting texture-wise.

Nabisco Watermelon Oreos Limited Edition

One question: why? Watermelons and tajin is a yes. Watermelons and cookies? That’s a no for me. The filling was a red and green watermelon-flavored swirl in between two golden wafers.

Nabisco Candy Corn Oreos Limited Edition

Sorry, candy corn is not even good. The people were divided on this one on Amazon. “I knew in my soul that I just had to try them,” wrote a reviewer rating the cookie four stars as “surprisingly delicious,” while another wrote, “You will hate yourself for eating these” due to the overbearing sweetness of the cookie. Are you surprised, though? You’re eating a candy corn Oreo.

Nabisco Swedish Fish Oreo Limited Edition

Sometimes we don’t always have to mix cookies and candy. In between chocolate wafers was Swedish Fish-flavored creme. Why chocolate? I think the golden wafers would have worked better here.

Kraft Wasabi Oreos and Kraft Hot Chicken Wings Oreos

I had to put these flavors together because I thought these two flavors were a joke, but no, both were real. These two flavors launched in China in 2018. I have so many thoughts and none of them are positive. Hot Oreos and chicken Oreos are flavor profiles that seem like they’d clash rather than produce a tasty Oreo. To be fair, Kit-Kat has also released wasabi chocolate bars in Japan, along with green tea, red bean, buttered cor, and hot chili pepper. Maybe chocolate and wasabi is an elite combo that I’m unaware of, I’m not dying to try it though.
