Taco Bell’s Naked Chicken Chalupa Is Back and With a ‘Wilder’ Version

Taco Bell has a knack for creating something awesome, and then making it even more epic. Take their Naked Chicken Chalupa. The delicacy hit the menu in January 2017, and now, it’s back, but even wilder. Starting Thursday, May 10, you can get your hands on Taco Bell’s Naked Chicken Chalupa and the new upgraded version, the Wilder Naked Chicken Chalupa.

What makes these chalupas “naked” is that there is no shell, or at least not in the sense of your traditional corn or flour tortilla. Instead, all-white meat crispy chicken serves as the shell. It’s like a giant chicken patty folded up and seasoned with Mexican spices, filled with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and avocado ranch sauce. The wilder version has all the same stuff, but swaps the avocado ranch sauce for a spicier, smoky “Wild” sauce.

In reality, the new chalupa is not that wild when comparing it to the original. However, in Cleveland, OH, Taco Bell is testing a Nacho Cheese Naked Chicken Chalupa, and that sounds pretty insane. But here’s a not-so-secret tip: You can add nacho cheese to anything at Taco Bell, so just ask for it on your Naked Chicken Chalupa and you too can test it out without booking a flight to Lebron’s hometown.

There’s no word on how long the Naked Chicken Chalupas will be on the menu, so go now, or this weekend around 2 am, whatever. You can get both Naked Chicken Chalupas for $2.99 each, or as part of a $5 Box that in addition to your chalupa, comes with a Doritos Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco, and a medium drink. Yeah, tbh, that sounds more like a 2 am-type of meal.
