Whether you’re a tourist, student, or native of the city, I think we can all agree that the often cute and modern cafes spanning blocks upon blocks are overall blessings to NYC’s population. Some are more well known, but some have only recently opened up and definitely deserve more praise. Cue me.
Blank Slate Tea
121 Madison Ave #3, New York, NY 10016
The first thing I thought walking into Blank Slate Tea was how girly the atmosphere was. I’ve never seen so much pink in the city. If that is your thing, then I would highly recommend, since they offer teas and small meals that are equally tasty and Instagrammable.
Personal Favorite: The Pink Hummus Toast
Good Thanks NYC
131 Orchard St. New York, NY. 10002
It looks like a typical Aussie cafe from the outside, but Good Thanks is actually super quirky. From kimchi scrambled eggs to green fritters, they serve some pretty wacky yet tasty and healthy dishes. And here’s a plus: half of the items are either gluten free or dairy free, or both!
Personal Favorite: The Blue Bowl
Blue Stripes Cacao Shop
28 E 13th St, New York, NY 10003
Only a few blocks NYU’s campus and right around the corner from Parsons, Blue Stripes is the perfect place for a student with a sweet tooth to study. Some people would call it the closest thing to a real life Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory.
Personal Favorite: The Wild Chocolate
Charley St.
41 Kenmare St, New York, NY 10012
Located on the brink of Chinatown, Charley St. stands out in that it is an Aussie cafe that focuses mainly on creating healthy and creamy bowls for their happy customers. This concept makes the cafe feel more like a hybrid of a fast casual and sit-down restaurant.
Personal Favorite: The Tahini Time Bowl
Avocado Appétit Cafe
114 Eldridge St, New York, NY 10002
It’s kind of an unwritten rule for a cafe to sell avocado toast, and Avocado Appétit takes that to a whole other level. They have six different types of avocado toasts on their menu, not to mention avocado fries. If that isn’t enough to satisfy an avocado fanatic, I don’t know what is.
Personal Favorite: The Sunny Caprése Toast
