If you have ever been to your local college bar, chances are you’ve come face to face with a plastic fish bowl brimming with electric blue liquid and six giant straws. While you can always head to your trendy, hip club to pick one of these up and share it with your besties, you can easily make these at home, too. Plus, with Target and Amazon selling the absolutely cutest fish bowl cups for the summer, you might as well grab as many as you can and host your own cocktail party. Here are our absolute favorite fish bowl recipes you and your friends will love.
#SpoonTip: Drinking is fun, but be responsible. Spoon does not promote binge or underage drinking. Stay safe!
The Classic Blue Bowl
Make the most authentic fish bowl by mixing blue curaçao, rum and/or vodka, sweet and sour mix, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda, and whatever candy floats your boat. Many fish bowls also opt to mix UV Blue vodka with lemon-lime soda and call it a day. It’s delicious, but will most likely give you a killer hangover.
Tequila Sunrise Bowl
There ain’t no party like a tequila party. Share a tequila sunrise with your besties by making this fish bowl recipe. With your choice of tequila, orange juice, grapefruit juice, and grenadine, you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget to garnish with fresh limes and top it off with your favorite hard seltzer. Plus, make it even cuter with some little umbrellas.
Margarita Bowl
You can have your tacos alongside the biggest margarita you can make right at home. TikTok creator Auntie Amandalee started with a base of Nerds and jelly beans for an authentic fish bowl pebble effect. She then mixes ginger beer, tequila, water, lemon juice, and blue curaçao to make an ocean-centric margarita. Grab your fave fish or shark candies to add on top, and you are ready to roll.
Blueberry Lemonade
This easy fish bowl cocktail just requires your preferred tequila and lemonade poured over ice. To elevate it, add fresh squeezes of lemon, as well as whole lemon wedges. Top off with fresh or frozen blueberries, and you can enjoy this hard lemonade all day long.
This N/A Candy Cocktail
All fish bowl recipes can be easily made non-alcoholic by swapping in your favorite soda, juice, or Gatorade. TikTok’s Las Vegas Bartender made this extravagant candy drink by decorating the bottom with Nerds and Jolly Ranchers, attaching Swedish Fish to the side of the glass, and mixing equal parts of blue soda and lemon-lime soda. It’s both super sweet and super perfect for summer sipping.
This Iced Coffee Bowl
So, your fish bowl doesn’t need to include alcohol, and it doesn’t even have to be for a fun night out. TikTok user @ihateveg.com made the fish bowl experience that is ideal for morning people with this iced coffee drink. Coat the inside of your bowl with mocha or caramel syrup, pour in two parts iced coffee, and one part milk or creamer, add in your favorite flavors, and top with whipped cream. If we try hard enough, maybe we can get Starbucks to make this the next size above Trenta.
