Growing up, Dippin' Dots was the bomb. Anytime I went to an amusement or water park, I always bought their Cookies 'n Cream because of the chunks of Oreo cookie in it. Dippin' Dots was just the coolest thing when it came out, and I always wondered how they made the ice cream into little tiny balls. And now, the futuristic melt-in-your-mouth ice cream from childhood's past is getting a breakfast makeover.

Earlier this week, General Mills released two Dippin' Dots Cereals in the all-time favorite Cookies 'n Cream and Banana Split flavors. Right now, you can only get these exclusively at Walmart, but on the upside you can order them online in advance with free pick up from your local store (while supplies last).

Is it worth it?

Both cereals currently retail for $3.64 a box, which is a steal in comparison to one scoop of the actual ice cream. It's a decent price for a box of cereal that should last you a week (maybe a couple of days for others). I already know that sometime this week I'll definitely be making a trip to the store to buy several boxes of the Cookies 'n Cream. It was my favorite flavor growing up and I have high expectations that it will taste just as good as I remember it.

What does it taste like?

Diving right into taste, food blogger SnackGator wrote a lengthy review about the two new flavors, and described the cereals as a "genius invention." She says that the Banana Split "flavor is absolutely, 100%, unmistakably, spot on banana split... strawberry tastes like legit strawberry, chocolate like chocolate and vanilla like vanilla." And although she admits to having a bias against Cookies 'n Cream (how that's even possible idk), she still says, "I absolutely love this cereal and will definitely buy it again," even though "I don’t really dig cookies ‘n cream." She goes on to say that the cereal "smells exactly like cookies n' cream," and that the cookie flavor is a "super chocolate flavor... almost on the dark chocolate side of the spectrum."

At the end of the day, Dippin' Dots (who turned 30 this year!) will never go out of style, no matter how long it's been since you've had it. You can still find it at most amusement and theme parks, shopping centers, and entertainment venues across the country. All the store locations are listed on their website and you can even order your favorite ice cream flavors in bulk. So find your car keys and get to the store stat.
