With winter holidays approaching, I thought it would be fitting to create a definitive list of the best Christmas cookies. Of course there are an infinite amount of delicious seasonal cookies, but I narrowed down my list to the ten most popular and tasty.

Not only are these cookies by far the most festive with their green and red twists, but their mint flavor is incredibly scrumptious. They are easy to make with a few simple ingredients and the addition of crushed mint candies; I've got the perfect recipe for you. Traditional Italian biscotti are always a hit around the holidays. For those unfamiliar, the biscotti are almond biscuits, and nothing is better than the addition of a chocolate flavor. These cookies are crisp, but not too sweet, and work perfectly with hot Christmas drinks.

I couldn’t make a Christmas cookie list without the inclusion of the gingerbread cookie. Baked with ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon, these Pepperidge Farm ginger men-shaped cookies are not as traditional as some. But, that does not mean they are not as equally yummy.

6. Pinwheel Cookies

Pinwheel cookies, which are normally chocolate and plain, can be easily made into Christmas cookies. Just make the festive swirl red or green, and they will be the prettiest cookies on display at any holiday party. Not only will they look good, but they will be tasty.

5. Snickerdoodle Cookies

Snickerdoodle cookies are made with butter, sugar, and flour, and are then rolled in cinnamon sugar to give them their unique taste. The best ones have a chewy center and crispy edges, which makes the perfect combination.

4. Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

Charlotte Close

Named for the way your thumb creates the indentation in the center, these cookies are very popular come Christmas time. They are small, round sugar cookies with a pool of melted chocolate in the middle.

3. Cinnamon Roll Cookies

Cinnamon roll cookies are a mix between a sugar cookie and a cinnamon bun, and it does not get better than that. The cinnamon sugar, which is rolled into the sugar cookie, adds a nice texture, and the cream cheese icing is a great finishing touch. These cute little cookies will satisfy your sweet tooth for sure. In case you need a tutorial, here's one.

2. Chocolate Snowball Cookies

These round, chocolate cookies melt in your mouth, and the powdered sugar not only adds flavor but also makes them look like winter snowballs. They are super rich with chocolate flavor, and it is impossible to only have one. Try out this delicious vegan recipe.

1. Pillsbury Sugar Cookie

Everyone knows what kind of cookie I am talking about. Pillsbury sells these cookies at every grocery store during any Holiday, and they are the things I look forward to most. On Christmas, these round sugar cookies have Christmas trees or Santa's on them, and they are sold out in seconds. They are so tasty and are ultimately the essence of Christmas.
