How to Eat Like Chandler Does on Every Thanksgiving Episode of Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Binghamton chapter.

When most of us think of Thanksgiving dinner, we imagine the classic turkey and all the fixings decked out on a table for many guests. We can’t wait to dig into our second, third, and even fourth helpings of food, and won’t leave the table until we’ve eaten enough to make our sweatpants feel tight.

But unlike those of us who love the meal as much as Joey Tribbiani, there are still some people who don’t have a zest for the holiday’s cuisine—most notably, Joey’s best friend, Chandler Bing.

For those of you who’ve seen Friends, you know that Chandler refuses to eat Thanksgiving food because the holiday holds bad childhood memories for him. However, like everyone else gathered around Monica’s kitchen table on Thanksgiving Day, he is gonna feel hungry come dinnertime, and probably wants to have something a little more filling than a cup of Central Perk coffee.

And, in true Chandler fashion, his food choices couldn’t be any more amusing.

Grilled Cheese

Chandler always loves a good cheesy pick-up line, so it’s no surprise that his fave meal to rid his Thanksgiving woes every year is a grilled cheese sandwich

Tomato Soup

It’s no mashed potatoes and gravy, but what else could Chandler have that better complements grilled cheese than a bowl of tomato soup?

Funyuns may be a little unconventional for Thanksgiving dinner—let alone any meal—but as long as they weren’t eaten at the first Thanksgiving, they’re a winner in Chandler’s book.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Let’s not forget about dessert! Chandler is a sucker for cheesecake. (After all, he’d eat it off the floor.) But since it’s Thanksgiving, maybe he’ll give in and opt for a pumpkin-flavored one just this once.
