A Definitive Ranking of all Flavors of Polar Seltzer

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at American chapter.

It’s fair to say that I’m a big fan of seltzer. I’ll drink any flavor, anytime. When it comes to the bubbly water, I do have a favorite brand, however. For me, its Polar Seltzer or nothing. Every time I go to the grocery store, I make sure to check the seltzer aisle, just to make sure I didn’t miss any new flavor additions.

One day this summer, as I was drinking my all time favorite seltzer (Ruby Red Grapefruit), I realized that I had only stuck to the same kinds of flavors. This is when I decided to try all the flavors of Polar Seltzer and rank them.

Here’s a list of Polar Seltzer flavors ranked from worst to best:

16. Granny Smith Apple

I tried this seltzer thinking it would remind me of Autumn, carving pumpkins and pumpkin spice lattes. Apple and carbonation don’t mix. Trust me on this.

15. Cherry Pomegranate

Cherry Pomegranate sounds like a unique and fruity combination at first glance. After trying it, Cherry Pomegranate reminded me of cough syrup.

14. Lemon

What I imagine drinking window cleaner is like. I expected better, Lemon.

13. Orange Vanilla

I’ll be the first to tell you, I don’t like oranges. To make matters worse, this flavor made me think of all the times I picked the awful flavors of toothpaste at the dentist. Everyone knows to always go with mint. Never go with chocolate, you’ll regret it.

12. Lime

This acidic flavor doesn’t combine well with the carbonation of the drink. Lime seltzer tasted like a more bitter version of lemon but less like a household cleaner. That’s why this flavor is higher up than it’s usual counterpart.

11. Pomegranate

Drinking Pomegranate seltzer is almost like eating fresh pomegranate seeds. Combining both sweet and sour, this seltzer really has the best of both worlds.

10. Mandarin

With just the right amount of tartness, the Mandarin flavor of Polar Seltzer breaks into the top ten.

9. Cranberry Clementine

Sour and citrusy, but in all the right ways. Cranberry Clementine seltzer is tart, tangy and all together a cool drink.

8. Strawberry Watermelon

Strawberry Watermelon is just as sweet as you would expect it to be, but also as delightful as you would expect. This flavor reminds me of summer.

7. Raspberry Lime

I’m a big fan of raspberry flavored things but this Raspberry Lime seltzer had too much lime and it ended up overpowering the raspberry. That is the exact reason why this flavor didn’t score higher.

6. Black Cherry

This seltzer went against all my expectations. I expected this flavor to be overpowering and synthetic tasting. On the contrary, Black Cherry seltzer was surprisingly subtle and refreshing.

5. Triple Berry

Combining pomegranate, blueberry, and açai, Triple Berry should actually be called Triple Threat.

4. Cranberry Lime

Drinking this seltzer makes me think of all the Shirley Temples I had while growing up, so you know it had to be top 5.

3. Blueberry Lemonade

Blueberry Lemonade is the embodiment of summer. Be sure to stock up on this flavor to remind you of the sweltering days as you cling to your pumpkin spice latte for warmth.

2. Georgia Peach

Georgia Peach seltzer is refreshing and tastes just like peach tea. This flavor of seltzer is just as sweet and juicy as the fruit for which it was intended.

1. Ruby Red Grapefruit

Ruby Red Grapefruit is seriously the best flavor of seltzer. This seltzer is semi-sweet which goes incredibly well with the bubbly and relaxed drink.

This adventure helped me see all the great flavors I was missing out on by sticking with the same few types. I just hope I have enough room in my fridge. But, as it says on Polar’s Twitter bio, “Why be flat when you can sparkle?”
