A dessert is a blessing for us humans. It concludes our meal and makes it worth it. No foodie on this planet will avoid a dessert request. Indian desserts have a certain twist in them when compared to the rest of the world. They come in various shapes and sizes and may be served hot or cold, but are loved by people all over the world.
1.Halwa
Halwa is a very famous Punjabi dessert that is served all over the world. It’s a very dense, sweet confection cooked with different dry fruits. It’s prepared using a single main ingredient which could be moong daal (split yellow gram), sooji (semolina), carrot, or it could be simple flour.
2. Gulab Jamun
Gulab Jamun is an Indian dessert that is very much enjoyed by the people all aroubd the globe, especially the ones in Caribbean countries. It is basically made of milk solids with flour, moulded into a round shape, and deep fried. It is then soaked in sugar syrup and voila! you have a decadant sweet love by all.
3. Kheer
To the world, it is known as rice pudding. It is also called Phirni in some parts of India. It is a milk-based dessert made with boiled rice and lots of dry fruits. It is used as a prasadam in many Hindu festivals.
4. Ghewar
Ghewar is a typical sweet item that belongs to the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is eaten during the festival season. It is a disc-shaped sweet made with flour and sugar syrup.
5. Jalebi
This list wouldn’t have been complete without mentioning Jalebi. According to me, it is the most loved Indian dessert. Flour batter deep fried in a circular shape and then dipped in sugar syrup, makes a crisp and sweet Jalebi. It is the perfect dessert to enjoy around winter. One can easily find sweet shops with people lined up to receive a fresh batch of jalebis, when the winter is at its height.
