Our favorite three-year old ever, Doug the Pug is the coolest, hippest, cutest pug and is our Instagram hero. I mean, check out this dog’s Insta feed – total #goals. When he isn’t hanging out with Justin Bieber, he’s producing new Vine videos or checking out the nation’s hottest music festivals, like lounging with his canine buddies in VIP style at Lollapalooza.
But our fav dawg also likes to take it chill, and is a total foodie – trying out the hottest new joints in his hometown of Nashville, or defining the meaning of Netflix & chill in totally adorable, trend-setting style. He just gets us, you know?
1. When you start the day the way we all want to
Mornings are hard. Doug knows all about that. This one goes out to all y’all who have had to get up on an early morning that was far too cold to wake up for. Rather than staying in bed and burrito-ing it up all day (p.s., a totally respectable thing to do), you had to get up and face the #struggle. He keeps it real. Need a way to wake up better? Try this yummy breakfast smoothie out.
2. When Netflix & chill is CRUCIAL
Sometimes you just need an off day, and Doug gets us. Just sittin’ back, binging entire seasons of Law & Order: SVU, yep, that’s the life. Doug says “cancel all of my appointments today!” Oh how we wish we could do the same for ourselves (can the weekend please come sooner?!). In case Doug has inspired you to do the same, here’s some delicious snacks for your next Netflix & chill session.
3. When alcohol is the only solution
There’s just those days where absolutely everything seems to go wrong and you finally breathe the biggest sigh of relief when the day’s over, but you still can’t forget all of your worries. Alcohol is the key. There’s nothing like sidling up to a pint of beer (h-e-e-e-e-y beautiful) and relaxing. Craving some beer? This quiz will help you decide what exactly you’re in the need for.
4. When you catch up with your BFFs
We’ve all got busy schedules, and sometimes we don’t get to see our BFFs very often. That’s why you’ve got to set that coffee date, put on your new kicks and beanie, and go to the hip new coffee place down the street. Oh, and of course, put that c-u-t-e pic on Instagram. #Likeforlike? What type of coffee are you? Try this quiz and see.
5. When you order an entire pizza for yourself and have #noshame about it
You know those times when you’re literally starving and you want to order an entire deep dish and fit the whole thing in your mouth at once (c’mon, admit it), but you don’t because your friends/family/date/etc. would think you’re literally out of your mind? So you settle for a single slice?
When you hang with Doug, the only way to go is the full pizza, because this is a judgement-free zone. In case you’re not that bold (or don’t have a supportive friend like Doug), try this insanely easy flatbread pizza recipe from the comfort of your own kitchen.
6. When you understand you need “me time”
No, I’m not going to text you back. No, I don’t need to deal with your problems right now. I’m going to lather myself in bubble bath, drink some cheap wine, and eat pizza, because I matter to me right now. Not you. Doug totally gets it. Doug practically wrote the book on it.
7. When it’s time to eat healthy
When it’s time to hop back on that diet because those cafeteria buffets and late-night snacking are catching up to your #freshmanfifty, so you decide to go for some salads. Oh, and maybe feta cheese, and some tomatoes and things so it’s not so boring. After all, lettuce gets lonely by itself in that salad bowl, right? Yeah, we do try new fun recipes like this one for a fun mason jar salad, but it just isn’t the same as eating mac and cheese.
8. When you just gotta ‘gram your In-N-Out
Because Kendall Jenner does too, and ‘gramming makes you oh-so #WestCoast. So you gotta put on the hat. And order more fries than you know what you could possibly do with. And a burger. You think you can’t eat it all, but OOPS! You did.
9. When you were famous
Maybe you saw your face on the town newspaper for participating in that 5K community run, or your singing choir made it on the local news and you felt like you totally hit the big time. Is Hollywood calling out your name or what, because you look sooooo good in that photo, and even your grandma called to specifically tell you that.
So it’s time to Instagram some of that fame, because pics or it didn’t happen, right? Here’s some other things you should do while you’re riding the fame train.
10. When you look chic at Sunday brunch
You know that time you grabbed your chic-est outfit because you knew you were going for Sunday brunch at that super indie-but-famous place that celebrities go to be seen, and you read in the tabloids that Karlie Kloss goes there to #detox?
Plus, your friend went last week and she totally saw some fashion photographers there, so you need to look like ten million bucks and maybe, just maybe, you’ll end up in a “street style” post. Don’t know where to go? Here’s a list of the best brunch spots in NYC. We can’t guarantee a Taylor Swift sighting or anything, but at least you’ll get a quality omelette.
11. When you and your food just share a really deep connection
Sometimes, to truly appreciate your food, you must channel your food in mind, body, and spirit. Especially body. I mean, why else do I own a taco costume?
“Doug?!” “No, it’s me, cheese puff. Eat the cheese puff, be the cheese puff, become the cheese puff.” Here’s some interesting facts about cheese puffs we thought you should know.
12. When you try out the hot new place in town
You know when everybody’s talking about the new place that just opened, and everybody wants to go soooo bad? And you go and you live to ‘gram about it, and you get thousands of likes and comments on your pic?
Except you don’t because you’ve got so many things to do and send tons of envy out to that friend that always gets to go to the hottest new places. That friend is Doug. Doug gets to try out new famous milkshakes before you do. Be like Doug. But we won’t totally deprive you – here’s the best milkshakes in America delivered to your front door.
13. When SoulCycle drains your soul, but hey, #fitfam
You know once a week when you drag your lazy bum to SoulCycle and the instructor literally makes you her slave?! But afterwards you got to treat yourself to a donut or something and you felt so good about yourself (#fitfam!). Here’s some other amazing snacks you can eat for workout fuel.
14. When you get the perfect vacation shot
Spring break or summer vacation rolls around and all of your friends are jetting off to spectacular locales, and you feel that you definitely need to get the money shot to keep your Insta game hot. Doug totally feels you – I mean, he’s already there. Holding the margarita and everything. In case you’re stuck poolside at home, never fear, we’re bringing to you the best Costco margarita recipe EVER here.
15. Because… NACHOS!
‘Nuff said. But for real, who can’t go for some seriously good nachos once in awhile?! If you’re lucky, you may be near one of these amazing Mexican restaurants and have access to some of America’s best nachos. But if you don’t, that’s okay, because we can totally respect store-bought tortilla chips and queso dip too.
16. When you work out and reward yourself with food
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had seriously successful treadmill workouts while watching the Cooking Channel, or something similar. Wow, I burned 500 calories? I’d head straight for the vending machine, where the reward was generally something from potato chips to Pop Tarts (seriously, have I told you how much I love Pop Tarts?!). Yup, Pop Tarts are definitely a divine creation of nature.
17. When you’re lying down and suddenly get a six-pack
“Somehow my stomach always seems to be flat when I’m lying down, not so much when I’m standing up.” Don’t we know it, Doug, don’t we know it. Like oh, I lost some weight now? Time to go eat a burger! Except you stand up and… Well, let’s just say that gravity is such a buzzkill.
Doug, you are literally the greatest thing that has ever happened to us, and we salute you. You keep doin’ you, bae.
