I've always been too scared to bleach my hair. Thankfully, while trying to avoid that, I came across the idea of lightening your hair with lemon juice. Not only is lemon juice a chemical-free, natural option, but it is convenient because you can leave it in while you go about your day. It's also really cheap because all you really need is lemon and sun.

After lots of trial and error, I'm happy to share my results and the recipe for lightening your hair with lemon juice. Lemons have a lot of different uses, but this is easily one of the best.

The lemon juice is the lightening agent, the water makes sure it's not too intense, and the conditioner is to balance out the drying effect of the lemon juice! If your hair does get dry, try these 3 DIY hair masks or these foods that help you get healthier hair

On the left is my hair before, and on the right is my hair after 10 hours across 2 weeks of sitting in the sun with the lemon juice mixture in. It's lighter and blonder compared to the dirty blonde colour I usually have.

Using lemon instead of bleach not only looks more natural by brightening up your natural colour, but it is a cheap and chemical-free alternative to your typical blonde dye. I definitely recommend this recipe as a great damage-free option.
