I Trashed All My Face Cleansers and Body Wash for Coconut Oil

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Denison chapter.

I find myself in a constant routine of going to CVS and buying the same face cleanser and body wash time after time. I finally accepted that the products that I’ve been swearing by forever really weren’t doing anything for my skin. I wanted glowing, issue-free skin and when I switched over to virgin coconut oil, that is exactly what I got.

If you struggle with dry skin, acne, or combination skin, coconut oil will work its magic on any issue. Here is a laundry list of reasons to go to a drug store right now and pick up a jar.

Why I Need It

When the seasons change on me, my skin really dries out. Taking a cold shower in the winter is not really an option for me and hot water dries me out even more. On top of that, deep repair creams and moisturized washes still left my skin with areas of eczema.

I was willing to try just about anything to try to fix my dry skin problems. Then, I realized coconut oil was the answer to many of my problems and I’m not just talking about skin.

Why YOU Need it

I started using coconut oil in substitution for face wash and learned that there are so many more uses for it. Using it as a face wash lead to me using it as body wash, make-up remover and teeth whitener too.

Coconut oil can replace many of the products in your hygiene routine. Whether you want to try out coconut oil to save money or get longer eyelashes, you won’t be disappointed.

1. Has more than one use at a cheap price

Literally one bottle of this good good is useful for body moisturizer, lip balm, face wash, body wash, cooking oil, teeth whitener, the list goes on! I can say with no hesitation that you will certainly finish a whole bottle of it if you decide to invest. When I say invest, I mean dropping anywhere between $8-$12 on a bottle sold at any grocery store or drugstore.

2. Whiter teeth, whiter smile

Yes, I swear this is a thing! I’m sure you’ve seen many stars endorse Cocowhite, such as the Kardashian family, Shawn Mendes and Vanessa Hudgens. Instead of buying $22 worth of flavored and cutely packaged coconut oil that only lasts for 14 days, ball on a budget and just invest in a jar that will last you months and costs half the price.

All you do is swish a tablespoon or so around in your mouth for a minute in the morning and I promise you will achieve those pearly whites you’ve always dreamed of!

3. Peace out acne and eczema

Coconut oil has both antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that seep into your pores and fight off pimples and dry patches.

4. Antioxidants, antioxidants, antioxidants

If you don’t know that antioxidants are key to good skin, they are! These are what stops early aging, fine lines and wrinkles. I’m pretty sure there’s nothing more packed with antioxidants than coconut oil.

5. Don’t let the “oil” freak you out.

Adding oil to oily skin actually tricks the skin into slowing down or stopping oil production (which is exactly what is causing your pimples!). Coconut oil is also non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog the pores of your skin. The addition of a natural and healthy oil to your skin will make you look glowing without being too shiny.

6. Better eyelashes too!?

If I haven’t convinced you yet, maybe this will. When you’re washing your face, put the coconut oil all over your lashes as well. It stimulates hair growth and simultaneously conditions the lashes so they are softer and shinier and strengthens the lashes so fewer fall out.

Google it yourself if you don’t trust me. All the results will only have positive things to say about this miracle worker. It works for all skin types and on all parts of the body, it’s affordable, smells good and is natural!

I truly believe you should be able to eat the things you are putting on your skin. The harsh chemicals from washes seep right into your blood stream anyways. So if you can’t say you would feel comfortable squirting your face wash or body wash into your mouth right now, I suggest you go out and buy coconut oil ASAP.
